    Hear, Hear, Owen.

As evidence to support rule #1 I would submit my ride from yesterday. I headed up to Gorebridge via Temple and then turned around to Middleton, south to Innerleithen before heading back to Peebles.

On the way I encountered a road completely flooded for 50m where I had to gingerly pedal through, hoping it wouldn’t get too deep, sections going past farms where the mud was at least 6 inches thick and pot-hole riddled roads that would make the surface of the moon feel like brushed velvet.

Meanwhile the weather was in full-blown multiple personality disorder mode going from glorious sunshine, to torrential rain and a biting cold wind for most of the way back to Innerleithen.

Anyone choosing to do that on a 4k Colnago or Pinarello dressed by Messers Assos, Rapha & Sidi is plainly an idiot.

    Scott.

@twmp – “not quite with you on the style factor. if speed isn't an option, style is where it's at.”
